Gentle Reminder

Today was one of THOSE mornings. Everyone got up late, I was upset because everyone was going SO slowly! Hello! We have deadlines in the morning! Buses and shuttles and breakfast... Well, it wasn't the most calm and happy morning we've had. So by the time Josh finally got on his shuttle, I was pretty upset. Mostly at myself, of course, because I had gotten upset. Really not necessary. But, as I was sitting on the front stairs, watching Andrew and Claire play and beating myself up, my guard started to sing a song:

Ere you left your room this morning,
Did you think to Pray?
In the name of Christ Our Savior
Did you sue for loving favor
As a shield today?

Oh, How praying rests the Weary!
Prayer can change the night to day!
So, when life gets dark and dreary,
Don't forget to Pray!

What a gentle reminder for me. I never would have thought that my guard would have to remind me to pray to make my day better! :) But, now I feel better and think I can make it through another hectic day!

Here are the other two verses of the song. They only add to the power of this beautiful hymn/prayer:

When your heart was filled with anger,
Did you think to pray?
Did you plead for grace, my brother,
That you might forgive another
Who had crossed your way?

Oh, How praying rests the Weary!
Prayer can change the night to day!
So, when life gets dark and dreary,
Don't forget to Pray!

When sore trials came upon you,
Did you think to pray?
When you soul was full of sorrow,
Balm of Gilead did you borrow
At the gates of day?

Oh, How praying rests the Weary!
Prayer can change the night to day!
So, when life gets dark and dreary,
Don't forget to Pray!
